I drop you a few lines to let you no (know) that I have not forgot you. _ and I am well and nombered (numbered) with the living yet & enjoying my self with my friends in old N. C.. I hope these lines will reach you and find you well and all of your friends_and family. I have seen som (some) of your friends in this Country and find them well and enquiring (inquiring) after you and your helth (health) & welfar (welfare). Tha (they) apear (appear) to be much pleas (pleased) to hear of you doing well. Tha (they) complain of you not writing to them ofen (often) than you do. I went to see your mother this week and she & your sister Poley was gon (gone) to Mr. Jacopesto see your sister Lucey (Lucy). She sent for them she was sick and I did not see hear (her) then. I will see hear (her) in a few days again. Your Mothers helth (health) is good as it is for comon and Poley and all of the negers (nigers) is well and sends ther (their) love to you. Old Raychel says howdy to marster (master) Anderson and all of his Boys. She would like to see you all. Tha (there) ar (are) the finest cropes (crops) in this country that ever has been seen in old N. C. so said by the oldest settelers (settlers). _Turn over_ Thar (there) is the finest cropes (crops) of wheat and oates (oats) now saved that I ever saw gro (grow) in this country and the best corn cropes (crops) and tobaco (tobacco) now growing that ever I saw in N.C. It looks like a new country at this time. Tha (they) has not suferd (suffered) for rain this year and is raying (raining) to day Wensday (Wednesday). Tha (they) ar (are) high times hear (here) now about politick (politic) & the lexion (election). The lexion (election) will com (come) off in a few days. Corn is worth $1. per bushel this summer. Bacon is worth $15 dollars per hundred, wheat is 35 cts. per bushel tobaco (tobacco) is high from five $5 to $50 per hundred. It is curent (current) at $10 to $20 per hundred. Ever (every) thing is high hear (here) at this time negers (nigers) is high from $600 to $750. Boys in portion of ther (their) sises (sizes). I shant be able to starte (start) until we have our sail (sale) and settel (settle) up our bisness (business). It will be in October som (some) time. I have been to Mr. Baynes Currys house whar (where) Druey Boyken got his wife tha (that) heard of me and sent word for me to com (come) thar (there) tha (they) wanted to see me and I went last week. Tha (they) ar (are) all well at that time. You can tell David Boyken. He can tell Druey of it. I have nothing more to write you at present.
