ORGANIZED The Parent Teacher association of Hasty high school was organized Monday night of last week. The meeting was held in the auditorium with Mr. White acting as chairman. Miss Hale sang "The Snow Ball bush," Prof. Fred Smith, of Pilot high school and Prof. Tom Sawyer, of Fair Grove high school, were present, and made very inspirational talks. The following officers were elected: Mrs. Fred Kennedy, president; Mrs. Harvey Moore, vice president; Mrs. Fred Payne, secretary; Mrs. John Kennedy, treasurer. It was decided to hold meeting monthly on the first Monday night of each month. Fifty four were present for the first meeting. * * * * * * * * * * * FINANCIAL STATEMENT Following is a financial statement for the first month of school: Teachers salary $1,348.33 Truck drivers 30.00 Janitor 40.00 Truck expenses 267.14 Repairing during the summer amounted to $112.31. Actual truck expenses for first month on trucks was $154.83 * * * * * * * * * * * ENROLLMENT Enrollment first month 444 Average attendance first month 421 * * * * * * * * * * * STUNT NIGHT PROGRAM The dramatic club gave their annual stunt night program on Friday evening, October 4, at 7:30 o’clock in the school auditorium. The program, consisting of four original stunts and one other, constituted the evening’s program. A scene in a railway station written and directed by Imogene Kennedy was the first number, followed by mixed proposals by Millie Rothrock, Amy Byerly and Hazel Hedrick. Then Clementines Callers, written and directed by Alice Hayes, Helen Arnold and Robert Swaim. The Crakenthorpe Side Show, by YeSable Hedrick, Pauline Hilton and Woodrow Kennedy, was the lasat original stunt. About thirty-five high school students took part in this. The judges for these original stunts were Misses McCanless, Jones and Wilson, and they decided the best stunt was the one written by Amy Byerly, Mily Rothrock and Hazel Hedrick. After this decision, The Sweet Family, a very comical program, was given by Pauline Hilton,, Hazel Hedrick, Alice Haynes, Imogene Kennedy, Milly Rothrock, Amy Byerly, Mildred Pope and YeSable Hedrick. Misses Yow and Hale furnished music between the stunts. * * * * * * * * * * * CHAPEL PROGRAM A program was rendered by sixty grade in chapel Friday morning. A play entitled "Poor Teacher," was given. The characters were Robert Kennedy, Lois Tucker, Edity Myers, Leland Sink, Bertie Craven, Gilbert Myers, Ruth Murphy, Hoyt Gailey, Harold Petty, Nora Kennedy, Pearl Saintsing, Wilma Shoaf, Flake Veach and Norman Hilton. A reading was also given by Clarence Smith. * * * * * * * * * * * JUNIOR CLASS MEETING The junior class of Hasty high met October 9, at 11:30 o’clock in the office for the regular monthly class meeting. The meeting was called to order by the president, and then the roll was called. The minutes were read and approved. It was decided that the motto should be "Service, Not Leadership." The class flower is to be pink and white sweet peas. It was decided that Jess Murphy, secretary of the senior class and John Payne, secretary of the junior class, were to order songs for the year. It was also announced that the class rings had been ordered. The class decided that each member of the class would pay ten cents each month for expenses. The meeting adjourned to meet the first Wednesday of next month. * * * * * * * * * * * SENIOR CLASS MEETING The senior class of Hasty high school met Thursday, October 10. At the last meeting it was decided that each member should bring a motto. Out of this list the motto, "Not Finished But Begun," was decided upon. The committee to write a class song has ordered material and are already working on the song. * * * * * * * * * * * DRAMATIC CLUB MEETS The Dramatic club held a business session Friday, October 11, at 11:30 a.m. The purpose of this meeting was to accept new members and to elect officers for the first semester. Mrs. Honeycutt presided over the meeting and it was decided to make a division of the club with the juniors and seniors belonging to the Senior Dramatic club and the freshmen and sophomores belonging to the Junior club. Officers elected for the senior club were: YeSable Hendrick, president; Pauline Hilton, vice president; Hazel Hendrick, secretary; Woodrow Kennedy, treasurer. Junior club – Gladys Leonard, president; Quention Veach, vice president; Lois Smith secretary; Trenton Veach, treasurer. The club decided to finish buying furniture for the state, using proceeds from pklays to be given. It was also decided that the clubs would alternate in giving programs each week, beginning with the seniors. * * * * * * * * * * * HASTY BEGINS PRACTICE New suits have been bought for both girls and boys and basketball practice will begin Monday.
