His men remain where NG left them because it is the only place in the area where they can get forage for the cavalry horses. He is concerned that a supply of provisions and spirits, which is reportedly to be sent ‘for the use of the Light Corps,’ may go only to Lee’s Legion; ‘to prevent uneasiness and trouble,’ he asks that it be sent to the issuing commissary of the light troops.
