Is pleased to hear ‘of the new arrangement of the army, to take place as soon as the different bodies assemble.’ If Lee is ‘to skirmish daily,’ he needs at least 150 men each from [Andrew] Pickens’s and Charles Lynch’s corps. He has sent an officer to pick up horses from NG and take them to the Dan River to ‘meet the recruits.’ If NG were to require ‘all the guards in the army’ who are fit to serve as dragoons to join Lee, it would probably give Lee fifty ‘much wanted’ men. Major [Ichabod] Burnet says NG is ‘much indisposed.’ Lee ‘hopes it will be of short duration.’ ALS (MiU-C), 2 pages.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/guilford/military/revwar/letters/mclean65gmt.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.3 Kb
