NG directs Weitzel to send ‘the two Holts’ to their ‘respective homes’ and ‘keep them clear of the American camp. He should have them sign the enclosed papers and send one copy to headquarters. ADfS (MiU-C), 1 page.” From footnote: “The recipient was not identified. The docketing listed him as ‘Captain Wetsail,’ but the editors believe he was a local millowner, who has been identified in Guilford County land records as Henry Weitzel (Custom House Map of Guilford County, NC). Weitzel was called ‘Captain’ in the Moravian records, where his name was given as ‘Heinrich Weizel.” (Records of the Moravians, 4: 1917.) Another footnote: “Michael and John Holt, who were probably local Loyalists, had been captured by the American Army. The papers that Pendleton enclosed were undoubtedly their paroles.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/guilford/military/revwar/letters/weitzelo70gmt.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
