All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Poquette npoq@hotmail.com March 31, 2007, 9:03 pm Pension Application Of William Hubbard, Nat’l Archives Series M804, Roll ____, Application #S21310 State of South Carolina, Anderson District} On this 4th day of March, 1832, personally appeared in open court before the judge of the Court of Sessions and Common Pleas of said state, for said district now in session, William Hubbard, a resi, of the state and district aforesaid, who being duly sworn according to law, doth on oath make the following declaration…: This deponent was born in Halifax County, Virginia, and moved to Guilford County, North Carolina when very young, not recollecting the time; and moved to Anderson District, South Carolina in 1792 or thereabouts. He was drafted in his 16th year while in Guilford County, NC, Captain Campbell’s company, Colonel Martin, General Lincoln. Marched on an expedition through South Carolina to Charleston. In service on that expedition for months. He afterwards attached himself to Captain Oldham’s company, Colonel Moore, General Butler; forty days service. He again attached himself to Captain McDow [McAdow] in a scouting party; served 3 months. He again attached himself to Captain Peter O’Neal, Colonel William O’Neal; three months service. He had but lost his discharge. Nor has he received any compensation. He knows of no other testimony of his service but what is furnished with this document.4th day of March, 1833. State of South Carolina, Anderson District} On this, the 23rd day of November, 1855, personally appeared before me, a magistrate within and for the District and state aforesaid, William Hubbard, aged in his 94th year, a resident of said district and state, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William Hubbard who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Cammel [Campbell]. That from extreme old age and consequent deficiency of memory, he cannot tell the no. of the regiment nor his colonel’s name in the Revolutionary War. That he volunteered in Guilford County, state of North Carolina in the month of December 1777 for the term of three months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of three months and was honorably discharged at Charleston on or about the 10th. That he subsequently served two other tours in the said war, which services are all accounted for and attested in a declaration for a pension under the act of June 7th, 1832 for which he obtained a pension certificate for life, dated the 17th day of May, 1833, and as well as now can be ascertained, number 3425.
