He belonged to the 4th North Carolina regiment of infantry in the Continental services during the Revolutionary War. His discharge was sent on to get his land warrant and he has not seen it since. JONATHAN NELSON was his first captain and the second was GRIFFITH JONATHAN MCBRIE? of the 2nd North Carolina regiment…” November Term, 1820: JOSHUA MARTIN, aged 64 years…that he enlisted in the County of Guilford, state of North Carolina in the spring of 177_ for the term of three years in a company commanded by Captain JOHN NELSON which company was attached to the 4th regiment of the North Carolina line and commanded by Colonel THOMAS CLARK.
