Pension Application Of Joshua Martin, Natl Archives Microseries M804, Roll 1641, Application # S41793
JOSHUA MARTIN, a resident of Guilford County, NC, aged 64 years in April 1818:
	“That he entered the Continental service in the month of May 1776 and 
was regularly discharged in May 1779, having listed for and served three years. 
He belonged to the 4th North Carolina regiment of infantry in the Continental 
services during the Revolutionary War. His discharge was sent on to get his 
land warrant and he has not seen it since. JONATHAN NELSON was his first 
captain and the second was GRIFFITH JONATHAN MCBRIE? of the 2nd North Carolina 
regiment…”

November Term, 1820: JOSHUA MARTIN, aged 64 years…that he enlisted in the 
County of Guilford, state of North Carolina in the spring of 177_ for the term 
of three years in a company commanded by Captain JOHN NELSON which company was 
attached to the 4th regiment of the North Carolina line and commanded by 
Colonel THOMAS CLARK. That he continued to serve in the army of the United 
States until his above mentioned term of service had expired, when he was 
discharged near Albany, New York.”
