Smith, an acting justice of the peace within and for the county and state aforesaid. Elizabeth McAden, aged 78 years, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of John McAden, deceased, who was a private soldier in the North Carolina regiment commanded by General Greene in the Revolutionary War. That her said husband enlisted at Martinsville, Guilford County, on or about the 1st day of February for the term of six months, and continued in actual service for the term of six months, and was honorably discharged at _____ [left blank] on the _ day of ____ [left blank in both cases] as will appear by the muster rolls. She further states that she was married to the said john McAden in Caswell County, North Carolina on the 30th day of November, 1798 by one William Moore [clergyman.] That her name before said marriage was Elizabeth Murphy.
