He does not recollect the number or denomination of said regiment so as to declare it of his own knowledge, but refers to the certificate of the said Major DONAHO therefore.” “That in, or about three months after his said enlistment, he was appointed for his good conduct and regular demeanor, a sergeant in said company, in which capacity he continued to serve in said company in the service of the United States until his company was discharged, which was at Charlotte in North Carolina at the end of the War, which was in the later part of the year 1782, making the period of service upward of nine months, by the said Colonel DIXON, which discharge has been lost or mislaid by time and accident.
