Pension Application Of John More, Nat’l Archives Series M804, Roll ____ Application #R7338
State of Virginia, County of Buchanan, on this 30th day of December, 1858, 
personally appeared before me, a justice of the peace within and for the county 
aforesaid, Sarah Hurley, the widow of Samuel Hurley, deceased,  aged 76 years, 
a resident of Buchanan County, state of Virginia, who being duly sworn 
according to law, declares:

	That she is the daughter and only legitimate heir of John More, who, 
according to the best information, was born about 1740 in Ireland and he died 
about 1788 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was married to Comfort ?Roens 
in Guilford County, who died in Guilford County, North Carolina, 1803. Sarah 
Hurley has often heard her mother and others say frequently that he, John More, 
was in the Revolutionary War with Great Britain and he served 
_________________________________ [left blank] seven years and was in several 
battles. He was in the Battle at Guilford courthouse and he got his discharge 
at the close of the war when peace was made. Sarah Hurley, her mark.
