That he entered the service on the first day of April 1777 and left the service the last of August of the same year. That he was at the Battle at Stono River in the state of South Carolina under the command of Colonel Marlburry [Malmedy?]. That he entered the service in the county of Guilford in the state of North Carolina where he resided when he entered the service. That he _____ and in the service, that he marched from Guilford to Bacon’s Bridge. That he was stationed in the neighborhood of the British at Stono River to ?fret the picket guard of the British. That he served with Colonel McDowell, General Lincoln and General Butler. That General Lincoln was a regular officer. He states that he served for six weeks under Captain Glen, Colonel Thomas Henderson’s regiment under General Greene. That he was taken sick just before the Battle of Guilford Courthouse and obtained permission from Colonel Henderson to go to his mother, 18 miles of. That while he was thus sick, the Battle of Guilford Courthouse was fought. He further states that he again entered the service under Captain John Morgan and served six weeks. He does not recollect the day of the month that he entered the service under Captain Morgan. That he was in Colonel Davidson’s regiment. He further states that he again entered the service under Colonel Marlburry on the 6th day of June and left the service the first of September 1778. That he was in no engagement during this service.
