All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Poquette npoq@hotmail.com June 17, 2006, 3:02 am Pension Application Of Jacob Myers, Nat’l Archives Series M804, Roll 1799 Application #S35533 Franklin County, Indiana, JACOB MYERS, aged 78 years on the 19th day of 1819: “That he, the said JACOB MYERS, enlisted in Guilford County in the state of North Carolina in the month of June or July in the year 1777 in the company commanded by Captain WILLIAM LYTLE in the regiment commanded by Colonel ARCHIBALD LYTLE of the North Carolina line. That he continued to serve in that corps until September 1779, when he was honorably discharged from service the state of South Carolina, within 12 miles of Charleston. That he was in the Battles of Briar Creek and a battle within 12 miles of Charleston, and that in the last battle he was wounded…” In 1822, his age was again given as 78 years in a supplemental declaration: “Said Jacob Myers enlisted for the term of two years in the year 1777 or 1778, in the state of South Carolina in the company commanded by Captain ARCHIBALD LYTLE in the regiment commanded by Colonel WILLIAM LYTLE [he reversed their ranks between them] in the line of the state of North Carolina on the Continental establishment. That he continued to serve in the said corps until the end of two years from the time of his enlistment when he was discharged from the said service near Charleston in the state of South Carolina. That afterward he served nine months under Captain JOHN RAMSEY. That he was in the Battles of Stono and at Charleston, in which he received several wounds and that he has no other evidence in his power of his said service.
