June 7, 1826 Married: At the seat of James Brown, Esq., in Rockingham, on the 30th ult., Mr. Robert Galloway to Miss Susan Carter of Caswell. Died: At Salem in Stokes county, on the 3rd inst., Miss Eliza Bagie, daughter of Mr. Charles Bagie, of that place. June 14, 1826 Died: In Rockingham county, on the 4th inst., Terry Collins, aged 52 years-she had no family, was a native of Maryland, and a member of the Methodist Church. Few have ever manifested less concern for the fleeting trifles of this world than she did, her life was pious and irreproachable-her death was happy and triumphant. It was truly affecting to see with what supernatural courage she raised her fast-failing hands in victory over the king of terrors, while, with eyes uplifted to heaven, her almost expiring tongue declared the praise of God! The beholders could not restrain their tears-and, it is believed that every one secretly wished to come, at last, to so glorious an end. July 19, 1826 Died: In this county, on the 10th instant, Mrs. Elizabeth Shearer, consort of the Rev. Jacob Shearer. August 9, 1826 Married: In this County, on the 20th of July Mr. James Parsons, Jr. to Miss Polly Thrift. Died: At the residence of his father, in Orange County, on the 2nd inst., Mr. Alfred A. Holt. Also on the same day, in this county, Mr. Donnell Denny, aged 20 years. August 23, 1826 Married: On the 17th inst., Mr. David Wilson to Miss Hannah Cobb, daughter of Mr. Jacob Cobb, all of this county. On the same day, Mr. Christopher Hill to Miss Christina Hicks, daughter of Mr. Jonas Hicks, of this county. On the 20th inst., Mr. Edward W. Swiford to Miss Sabria Coalman, of this county. On Thursday the 17th instant, Mr. Samuel Mejougue to Miss Sarah Howell, daughter of John Howell, Esq., of this County. On Thursday the 20th of July, Mr. Hiram Armfield to Miss Jane Carmicael. September 6, 1826 Married: On the 31st ultimo, Mr. Absalom B. Baine, of Davidson county, to Miss Nancy Milles, daughter of the Rev. John Milles, of Jamestown, in this county. Died: On the 30th ultimo, Mr. William Denny, an old and respectable citizen of this county, after a lingering illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude. Mr. D. was and had been for many years a member of the Presbyterian Church. October 4, 1826 Died: At the dwelling house of Jno. Wiley, 8 miles southeast of Greensborough, September the 27th, a man, who said his name was Arthur Reaves, that he was a native of Franklin county, a Shoemaker by trade, and that he had a wife and 3 children in Orange county. At Enfield, in Halifax county on the 17th September last Levi H. M'Lean, Esq., son of Capt. Marshall M'Lean of this county. He had been married but ten days previous to his death. He died in the triumphant hope of enjoying a blessed eternity. November 15, 1826 Died: In this place on Thursday morning last, at half past 12 o'clock Mr. Thomas J. Dick, in the 23rd year of his age. November 22, 1826 Died: On the 19th ult. In the county of Cabarrus, Mr. John Allison, formerly of this county. December 6, 1826 Married: On the 30th ult., Mr. Andrew Wilson to Miss Martha Forbes, all of this county. December 13, 1826 Died: In this county on the 4th inst., Miss Abby Wiley. January 6, 1827 Married: On the 4th inst., by the Rev. E. W. Caruthers, Mr. John Gilchrist, to Miss Eliza Ryan, daughter of William Ryan, Esq., all of this county. Died: In this place on Saturday night last, Mrs. Rebecca Carson, consort of Robert A. Carson, Esq., after a short but severe illness. February 3, 1827 Married: At New Garden, on Wednesday last, Mr. Joseph Hubbard, aged 76 years, to Miss Axah Coffin, aged 30 years, both of this county. March 3, 1827 Married: On the 23rd ult., by William Cuthank, Esq., Capt. Richard H. Stanly to Mrs. Obedience Farrington, all of this county. Died: In this county, on the 22nd ult., at the residence of her son Joseph Gibson, Esq., Mrs. Jane Gibson, relict of the late Andrew Gibson, in the 70th year of her age. May 12, 1827 Married: On Thursday evening last, by the Rev. John Coe, Mr. James McNairy, Jr., in the 18th year of his age, to Miss Sally W. Jeans, in her 16th year, granddaughter of Mr. Phillip Jeans, all of this county. October 29, 1827 Died: On Tuesday the 9th inst., in Montgomery county, after a short illness, the Rev. Joseph Clark, of Randolph, a worthy and respectable Minister of the Methodist Church.
