In Raleigh, on Sunday, the 31st ult., Mrs. Hinton, wife of Ransom
Hinton.

In Petersburg, Va., on the 23rd ult., Dr. Richard Field, in the 63rd 
year of this age. He was an accomplished gentleman, distinguished
physician and a learned man.

Died:
In Randolph County, on Friday 12th inst., Col. Hugh Walker. Society has
sustained a serious loss in the death of this amiable man. He has been
for the past two years, a member of the legislature of this State, and
was, we understand, previous to his death, a candidate for re-election.

At Wilmington, on the 29th ult., Mrs. Teresa Jacobs, relict of the late
Benjamin Jacobs, aged 90.

Reede, aged 61 years.

the 79th year of his age. He was an honest and virtuous citizen, and a
galena and distinguished officer of the Revolution.

Attorney at Law, formerly of Fayetteville, but a native of

In Loudon county, Va., a few days since, Tommy Tomson, a black man,
aged 130 years. He was born and lived in Va., and retained his mental
and physical faculties to a few days previous to his decease.

Died, in Sumner county, Tennessee, on the 25th Aug., Mr. Elisha M. 
Gray, after a painful illness of about 8 weeks. He was a native of 
Randolph county in this State, and received his education, principally
in this place. He removed, some years since, to Tennessee; where he has
since been employed as a teacher. He was a young man whose correct
moral deportment had secured him the esteem of all who knew him.
