January 6, 1830
Marriages:
Married, in Raleigh, on Thursday evening last, by the Rev. T. J. Lemay,
Mr. George C. Levy to Miss Jane D. Savage.

In this place, on last evening, by William Adams, Esq., Mr. William
Osmont, to Miss Dulcinta Ives, all of Jackson, except the magistrate
and spectators.

On the 7, ult., by Philip Horney, Esq., Mr. Elisha Carlisle, of South
Carolina, aged 23, to Miss Nancy Mendenhall, of this county, aged 27,
after a long-long, protracted courtship of two weeks from the first
interview! And shortly after took a nuptial flight to the more
congenial atmosphere of South Carolina.

Deaths:
Died, In this county, on Wednesday last at 7 o'clock, P. M. McDonald
Stewart, a native of Scotland.

Also, at the residence of his brother, Gavin Hogg, Esq., in Raleigh, on
28, ult., Mr. Richard Hogg, aged about 19 years.

At Fayetteville, on the 20, ult., Mrs. Lovely Tyson, relict of the late
Mr. Thompson Tyson, of Moore county.

Married, In Chatham on the 24, ult., Jesse Marley, Esq., of Randolph to
Miss Laury Mathews of the former county.

In Rutherfordton; on the 22, ult., Mr. Spencer King, of S. C., to Miss 
Mary Centrall, of Rutherford, N. C.

In the city of New York, on the 12, ult., The Hon. Daniel Webster, of
Boston, to Miss Caroline Leroy.

In Alleghany county, in Va., on the 13, ult., John H. Pleasants, Esq.,
Senior editor of the Richmond Whig, to Miss Mary L. Massie.

In Hillsborough, on the 29, ult., Mr. Matthew Poe, of this county, to
Miss Nancy Flint of the former place. We hope Mr. Poe's case will not
be as hard as his wife's name.

Deaths:
Died, In this county, on Saturday last, the Rev. Michael Swaim, after a
lingering illness of several months.


Marriages:
Married, in Quincy, Mr. Josiah Patch, to Miss Eleanor Nothing. This is
patch work.

Josiah Patch, we likewise see,
Ha lately come to Nothing.

In this place, on last evening, by William Adams, Esq., Mr. Walter 
Winborn, of this place, to Miss Polly Smith, late from Salisbury.

Deaths:
Died, in this county, on Sunday morning, 10, inst., Mrs. Lydia
Clemmons, wife of James Clemmons, in the 51, year of her age. They were
married in 1799, and have lived together ever since, in the most
cordial and uninterrupted love, harmony and happiness. She had two
children who are yet sojourners in this vale of tears.

to Miss Mary Ogburn, daughter of Edward Ogburn, all of that county.

Also, on the 21, ult., in the same county, Carl Nathaniel Moody of
Germanton, to Miss Elizabeth J. Null, daughter of John Null, Sen.

In Chatham county, a few days since, Mr. Jesse Murley, to Miss Laura
Matthews.

In Salisbury, on the 14, ult., Maxwell Chambers, Esq., to Miss
Katharine B. Troy.

In Jones county, on the 20, inst., Mr. William Du-Val, Printer! To Miss
Eliza Murphey.

Deaths:
Died, In Franklin county, on the 16, ult., Miss Mary Fuller, youngest
daughter of the late Rev. Bartholomew Fuller.

Married, In this place, on Thursday last, precisely 41 minutes and 59
seconds page three o'clock, by William Adams, Esq., Mr. Georeg 
Washington Scott, to Miss Martha E. Leadbetter. If she "leads" him 
"better" than wives generally lead their husbands (that is out of bad
habits into good ones) "Me thinks," as uncle Toby would say, "It will
be a confounded fortunate match."

In this county on Thursday week last, by David Edwards, Esq., Mr. 
Stephen Orsman of Randolph, to Miss Jane Armfield, of this county.

On the 9, instant by the Rev. William D. Paisley, William T. Bennette,
Esq., of Iredell county, to Miss Isabella W. Smith, of this county.

In this county on the 4, inst., Mr. Green Parish to Miss Polly Car.

Recently in Rockingham, Mr. Emry Night to Miss Matty Winchester.

In this county, on the 2, inst., Mr. Manlove Causey of Randolph to Miss
Jane Kirkman, of this county.

In this county, on the 4, inst., Mr. Hiram Lamb, to Miss Martha Swaim.

In Randolph county on the 3, inst., Mr. Pleasant Cummins to Miss 
Elizabeth Miles. The first of his name and the last of her, will enjoy 
"Pleasant" "SMiles."

In New Salem, on Sunday the 7, inst., Benjamin Swaim, Esq., Attorney at
law, to Miss Rachel Dicks, daughter of the Rev. Peter Dicks, all of 
Randolph county.

Deaths:
Died, In Chatham County, on the 23, ult., Sarah Dixon, wife of the late
Nathan Dixon of the Society of Friends.

Mary Ann Henly.

In Raleigh, on Tuesday evening, last, Mr. Joseph B. Hinton, to Miss
Margaret Bushnell.

In Randolph county, on the 4, inst., Mr. Henry B. Hill to Miss Lucretia
Henley.

On ------, 21, inst., at Friend's Meeting-house, New Salem, Nathan 
Baldin of Deep River meeting, to Malinda Hinshaw of that place. May 
they indeed be each others help and consolation through the calm, as
well as the storms and perils of life.

Deaths:
Died, In York District, South Carolina, on the 25, ult., Mrs. Nancy
Winston, aged 32 years 9 mo. and 10 days, consort of George Winston,
Esq., and daughter of the late Rev. Bartholomew Fuller, of Franklin 
county in this state.

In Greensborough, on Wednesday the 17, of March this the present inst.,
Mr. William Swaim, Esq., editor of the Greensborough Patriot to Miss-to
Miss-by jing! In looking over the above list, we find we have missed
the bunch ovum. Everybody's married & left us add! sahooh! sahooh!!
sahooh!!!

Deaths:
Died, In Wentworth, Rockingham, on Sunday the 7, inst., after a 
protracted illness of 9 months, Mary H. Peay. She was 27, years of age.
She was a perfect model of female excellence; and formed in nature's 
noblest mould. She was universally beloved while living, and
universally lamented now dead.


March 24, 1830

Elizabeth Ellis.

In the same county, on the 4, inst., Mr. David Peelher, to Miss Sally
Trexler.

In Orange county, not long since, Mr. Aron Chiner, to Miss Charity

In Stokes county, a short time since, by Reuben Folger, Esq., Mr. David
Martin to Miss Elizabeth Hicks.

Deaths:
Died, In this place on the 18, inst., Elizabeth W., infant daughter of
David Scott, aged about mos. It appeared to be in good health 15 
minutes before its death.

the 72, year of her age.

Elizabeth Milican of Randolph.

On the 14, inst., in Person county, Mr. William L. Terry, of Danville,
Va., to Miss Amanda S. M'Ghee.

Deaths:
Died, In Iredell county, on the 29, ult., Alexander M'Cay, aged 70 
years. He was a native of Scotland.

Some time since, in the same county, Mrs. Barsheba Owens, aged about
100!

In Greenville, on the 4, ult., Miss Elizabeth Hilliard.
