In Salem, on the 25th ult., by John C. Bunn, Esq., Mr. Andrew Krause to Miss Elizabeth Ketner. At the same time and place, Mr. Henry Ketner to Miss Mahelia Krause. Deaths: Died in this place on the 22nd ult., Mrs. Gullet, consort of Isaac Gullet. Very suddenly in Davidson county, on the 18th ult., Mrs. Dobson, consort of Dr. John Dobson. April 5, 1836 Married: In this county, on Thursday last, by the Rev. Mr. Speight, Mr. James N. Ross to Miss Amanda, daughter of William Lindsay. In Granville county, 1st inst., Wm. B. Hamilton of Petersburg, Va., to Mary, daughter of Col. Thos. Turner. Also 3rd inst., Charles Coleman of Halifax, to Sarah A. Eaton, daughter of the late Col. John Eaton. In Person county, Mr. Thomas Roan of Caswell, aged 75, to Mrs. Jane Clay, of Person, aged 74. Died: In Wake Forest, 17th ult. Nancy Underwood, an exemplary member of the Baptist church. In Halifax county, 17th Feb. Elizabeth K. Burton, wife of Maj. Thomas B. Burton. At Green Pond, Richmond county, 17th Feb. of the small pox, Alexander Smith, a highly respectable citizen, leaving a wife and several small children. Also in the same county, 19th Feb. Alexander Patterson, a member of the Presbyterian church, a good neighbor, and a useful citizen. In Marion, Alabama, 14th ult., George Martin Palmer, formerly of Hillsboro, N. C. April 27, 1836 Married: In Davidson county, on the 9th April, by the Rev. George Riley, Mr. Harrison Leapish, aged sixty, late of Salisbury, to Miss Elizabeth Roch, aged sixteen. In Charlotte, on the 14th inst., by the Rev. Mr. Leavenworth, Mr. Jackson Perry, of Raleigh, to Miss Jane Williams of that town. In Mecklenburg, on the 12th inst., by the Rev. Mr. Thomas, George W. Williamson to Angelina Rude. In the same county, Joseph McCombs, to Martha Parks. In Stokes, on the same day by George Brooks, Esq., Capt. Henry Marshall of Surry, to Miss Maria Vance. Died: At the residence of Hiram T. Sloan, in Iredell county, on Thursday morning, the 21st inst., Ex-Governor Hutchius G. Burton, after a very short illness. In Surry county, near Jonesville, on the 2nd inst., quite suddenly, Joel H. Burch. Also on the 30th of January last, Samuel Callaway, aged 82, a soldier of the revolution. He had lived in that county upwards of 60 years. May 25, 1836 Died: In Iredell county, on the 7th last month, Anna Clasby, widow of Charles Clasby, aged 95 years and 7 months. July 20, 1836 Married: In this county, on Thursday last, by the Rev. F. W. Caruthers, Mr. Levi Denny, to Miss Rebecca Denny, all of this county. July 27, 1836 Married: In this county on Thursday last, by the Rev. E. W. Caruthers, Milton Denny, to Miss Milly McNight. September 7, 1836 Married: In this county, on Thursday the 11th ult., Henry Yates to Miss Nancy Sherwood, daughter of Daniel Sherwood, Sen. In this vicinity, on Thursday, the 25th by the Rev. A. Wilson, Lorenzo D. Orrel to Miss Eliza Spence. In this place, on Wednesday evening last, by the Rev. A. Wilson, Robert M. Sloan (Merchant) to Miss Sarah Jane, daughter of the Rev. William Paisley. In Wiscasset, John Paine, Esq., of Thomaston, to Mrs. Ann Bright of Boston. The above couple are now more than 70 years of age. Upwards of fifty years ago they were betrothed, but by some fortuitous circumstances their union was prevented. Since that time they have each been married twice and have never seen each other until the day previous to their wedding. October 12, 1836 Married: In Lancaster, S. C. on the 22nd ult., by the Rev. Mr. Thornwell, Mr. Alexander Biles, of Salisbury to Miss Hannah J., daughter of the late John Kingsberry, Esq., November 9, 1836 Died: In this place, on Saturday last, of consumption, Robert Moderwell, aged about 60, for several years a respectable merchant in this place.
