In Pittsylvania county, Va., at his residence, on Sunday evening, the 
15th inst., Jesse C. Carter, about 51 years of age-a citizen well known
and highly respected throughout the county.

Prudence L. Cox, aged 15 years, daughter of Mr. S. P. Cox.

(Judge of the 1st Judicial Circuit of Arkansas) aged 30 years. He was
the only son of the late Lawson Henderson Alexander, who removed from 
North Carolina to Arkansas about 1835. He was born in Burke county.

year. He was an estimable citizen, and for thirty-five years a 
consistent Christian; a Trustee of Trinity College from its
organization, he was its faithful friend and supporter.

In Lynchburg, Va., on the 19th ult., Mrs. Sarah F. Rush, consort of Mr.
Charles T. Rush, and daughter of the late Mr. James H. Mitchell, of
Pittsylvania county, in the 20th year of her age.

In Danville, Va., 30th ult., Mr. John Watson, aged 80 years. He was the
oldest citizen of that place.

In Charlotte, of Typhoid fever, on the 7th inst., Miss Sally Dodson, 
aged about 18 years.

In Guilford county, on the 23rd ult., Rev. William J. Ogburn, in his
40th year, leaving a devoted wife and three little boys to mourn their 
loss. He had long been a minister of the Methodist Protestant Church 
and beloved by all who knew him.

In Granville county, on the 11th ult., Joseph T. Lamkin, in the 23rd
year of his age.

In Madison county, Miss., on the 12th ult., Dr. C. Williams, formerly
of Granville county, N. C. Aged 68 years.
