Obituary of Colonel Daniel Gillaspie of Guilford Co., NC Raleigh Register and North-Carolina Gazette, Vol. XXIX, No. 1,553, Friday, January 30, 1829: DIED, At his residence in Guilford on the 17th inst. Col. Daniel Gillaspie, in the 88th year of his age. Col. G. was a soldier and hero of the Revolutionary war; he was an exemplary christian, a good husband, father, neighbour and citizen, and has left a numerous train of relatives and friends to lament their loss.
