Linthicum fayrankin@juno.com November 1, 2011, 5:49 pm The Patriot DIED, In this vicinity, a few days since, JOHN W. LINTHICUM.- The deceased had been an eccentric, but always an honest and inoffensive man. He formerly indulged a propensity for rhyming, and many of his pieces were printed in the Patriot, over the signature of "The Village Bard." His verses were rough, but pungent, and bit off very happily the vices and follies of the day. The latter years of his life have been altogether steady and exemplary and devoted with an honest zeal to the spread of temperance principles, which he espoused from personal experience of the opposite evil. His well meant efforts have no doubt done as much good in his little sphere, as those of many a man who has made more noise in the world. Poor John! Many an humble friend will drop a tear of genuine sorrow over thy ashes.
