Departed this life in the town of Greensborough, N. C. on the 21st December, 1841, Miss Martha Ann Adams, in the 22nd year of her age. ~~~January 18, 1842 In this county, on the 14th inst., Susan Brittain, consort of Asa G. Brittain, and daughter of the Rev. Henry Tatum. At the residence on her son-in-law, Salathiel Stone, in Stokes county, on the 27th of Nov. last, Mrs. Agnes Close, relict of Major John Close, in the 75th year of her age. ~~~February 1, 1842 In this place, last Friday night Moore Daniel, a native of Orange county, N.C. but who had been for the past eight or ten years a citizen of Greensboro. Suddenly, on the 25th inst., in the 33rd year of her age, from organic disease of the heart, Love S. Gales, wife of Weston R. Gales, Editor of the Raleigh Register. ~~~February 8, 1842 In this place about 2 o'clock yesterday morning, Cornelius Winborne, leaving a widow and several small children to feel his loss. In this county on Sunday evening last, at the residence of Samuel Mitchell, Melinda Kirr, daughter of Nathaniel Kirr deceased, age about 18 or 19 years. ~~~February 15, 1842 In this place on the 12th inst., William Paisley Gilmer, eldest son of John A. and Juliana Gilmer aged 6 years and about 4 months. In Demopolis, Ala., on the 25th of January, Sally Young, wife of Levi W. Young, and daughter of Thomas Claney, of Hillsboro, N. C. Near this place, on Friday the 11th inst., William Armfield, Esq., in the 81st year of his age. ~~~February 29, 1842 On the 16th inst., William Humeston, infant son of Dr. D. P. and H. L. Weir In this place, on Monday evening, the 9th Euphemia Jane, infant daughter of William S. and Catherine Gilmer, aged 6 years 4 months and 12 days. In this vicinity, on Thursday morning the 12th, Mary Lavinia, infant daughter of William H. and Lavinia Cumming, aged 3 years and 3 months. ~~~June 7, 1842 In this county, on the 4th, at an advanced age, William McKnight. In this place, Saturday evening last, Henry, infant son of Washington J. and Jane McConnell. At his residence near Mocksville, on the 23rd ultimo, Thomas C. Jones, Esq., in the 52nd year of his age, leaving a widow and nine children, together with a large circle of relations and friends to mourn their irreparable loss. At Chapel Hill, on the 31st ult., Jane Wilson, daughter of the Rev. Dr. Alex Wilson, of this place. At his residence, in the county of Rockingham, on the 6th inst., after an illness of several months, which he bore with great fortitude, Mr. John Wall, Sen., in the 56th year of his age. At her residence in Rockingham county, Miss Angelina Linder, in the 24th year of her age. ~~~August 13, 1842 In this place on Sunday morning last, James R. Hinton, a Student of the Caldwell Institute. In Rowan county on the 1st inst., Mary Jane, daughter of the Rev. James D. Hall, aged about five years. ~~~August 27, 1842 In this county, on the 15th of this month, in the 64th year of his age, James Denny, leaving a wife and nine children to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and kind father. C., and daughter of William Adams, dec'd, in the 34th year of her age leaving behind her a husband and two children. In this county on the 10th ult., Jeremiah Reynolds, about 65 year of age. In this county on the 29th of August, in the 16th year of her age, Miss Sarah Moore, daughter of the widow Sarah Moore, relict of Isaiah Moore, dec'd. In this place on Tuesday morning, the 30th of August, George K., son of Rev. John A. Gretter, aged about 6 years. ~~~September 10, 1842 In this county on the 2nd of this month of congestive fever, Reuel Swain, aged 68 years, 2 months, and 13 days. On the 4th inst., of congestive fever, after an illness of 3 days, John Chambers, youngest son of Watson and Malinda Wharton aged 4 years and 22 days. ~~~September 24, 1842 At Albright's hotel, in this town, on the night of the 16th, G. K. Furor, of the state of Maine. In this place, Sunday the 18th, Diana Linthicum, wife of John W. Linthicum, in the 44th year of her age. In this place on Friday the 23rd, instant, at 5 ˝ o'clock, A. M. Frances Amy, the youngest daughter of the Rev. Alexander and Mary Wilson in the 5th year of her age. In Stokes county on the 21st of August, 1842, in the 29th year of her age, Mrs. Eliza Pearson, consort of John G. Also, on Tuesday 27th Isaac White. In Randolph county, on the 6th Mary, wife of Abi Robbins, aged 30. At this place on Tuesday the 27th, L. B. Knowles. Also, in this place, Thursday last, Rebecca Kirkman, an aged lady. At Welch's Mills, Cabarrus county, the morning of the 23rd, ult., Dr. Alfred W. Caldwell, son of Dr. David and Susan Caldwell, of this town, in the 39th year of his age. In this county, the 28th Joel Sullivan, aged about 76 years. ~~~October 8, 1842 In this town, Sunday morning Oct. 2, Washington Tyre. Also, Alpheus, Leroy, son of Robert T. Woodburn, aged 2 years 7 months and 16 days. On Thursday 6th, Duncan C. Tyre. On the 4th, Cummins M., infant son of Thomas F. and Ruhama Beattie. Recently in Lexington, N. C. Pete Conrad. At the residence of her son, Mesback Pinkston, in Davidson county, on the 5th of Sept., Mrs. Susannah Pinkston, aged 72 years. In Orange county, Sept. 27, Col. William Shaw, aged about 42 years. In Fayetteville, recently, Neill Johnson, aged about 48 years. In Salisbury, Miss Elizabeth Thompson, age 19 years. In Mecklenburg county, 14th ult., the Rev. John Williamson, pastor of Hopewell and Paw Creek churches. At his residence near Danville, Va., Sept. 20th, the Rev. John Kerr, one of the oldest and most distinguished ministers of the Baptist church in Virginia. ~~~October 15, 1842 In this place on Sunday evening 9th inst., of consumption, Mary Scott, wife of David Scott.
