STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

 Guilford County.

Know all men by these Presents, that we, James H. Dick & J. W. Gilmer, are 
held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the full sum of ONE 
THOUSAND DOLLARS, currant money, to be paid to the said State of North 
Carolina; for the payment of which, well and truly to be made and done we bind 
ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, 
firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals, and dated the 2nd day of 
March A. D. 1844.

 THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That the above bound-en James 
H. Dick hath made application for a license for Marriage, to be celebrated 
between him and Nancy Jane Paisley of the County aforesaid; now in case it 
shall not hereafter appear that there is any lawful cause or impediment to 
obstruct said Marriage, then the above Obligation to be void, otherwise to 
remain in full force and virtue.
