STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, GUILFORD COUNTY.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That We, Lewis J. Apple and Paterson H. Apple 
are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the full sum of 
one thousand dollars, current money, to be paid to the said State of North 
Carolina; for the payment of which, well and truly to be made and done, we 
bind ourselves our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly, and 
severally, firmly by these presents.
 
Sealed with our seals, and dated the 27 day of May, A.D., 1859.

The Condition of the Obligation is such, that the above bounden Lewis J. Apple 
hath made application for a LICENSE for MARRIAGE, to be celebrated between him 
and Hannah C. Apple of the county aforesaid; now in case it shall not 
hereafter appear that there is any lawful cause or impediment to obstruct said 
MARRIAGE, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full 
force and virtue.

To any Regular Minister of the Gospel, having the Cure of Souls, of whatever 
Denomination, or any Justice of the Peace for said county:

You, or any of you, are hereby Licensed and authorized to celebrate and 
solemnize the rites of MATRIMONY between

Lewis J. Apple and Hannah C. Apple and join them together as MAN and WIFE.

Witness, LYNDON SWAIM, Clerk of the County Court of said county, this 27 day 
of May, A.D., 1859.
