I James Criswell of the county of Gilford (sic) and State of North Carolina have thought it proper to make this to be my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. I give and bequeath unto my friend John Wilson my plantation ...?... live on with the Smith tools to be his at my decease. Secondly I give unto my nephew Margaret Short my land on Meyers Fork on which she now lives. Thirdly I give unto my Sister Mary Donnell ten dolars. Fifthly I give unto the Buffalo Congregation one hundred dolars to be kept in the hands of my executors for their use. Sixthly I allow My negroe man Derry to be set free at my decease. Seventhly I hereby give to my nephew Jean Short twenty dolars. Eightly I give unto Elijah Shoemaker, a crippled boy twenty dolars. And futher, allow my monies that I have from home for safe keeping my stock and household furniture when sold to be equally divided between my two nephews Margaret Short and Jean Short and John Wilson my friend. I do appoint for my executors Major Robert Donnell, Lathum Donnell Senior and Moses Gilchrist.
