All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sonia Parsons Haga n/a August 28, 2008, 1:46 am Source: Personal Written: 1867 William Green ~ 1867 I William Green of the County of Guilford and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say - First - That my Executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends, and pay all funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomsoever owing, out of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Green the tract of land upon which I now live (except a small lot above the blacksmith shop including a dwelling house) including a small piece taken from the Samuel D Green tract, to be hers during her life and at her decease to fall to my youngest son George D Green. Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Green the small lot of land above mentioned, the line commencing at John C Denny's spring and running south to John C Denny's white oak corner thence east so far that the line running north will have the black smith shop out of the lot, thence north until it comes even with the beginning corner, thence west to the beginning corner. I give and bequeath to my above named daughter two hundred dollars to be paid to her by my executor. My will and desire is that my sister Jane Green live on the above named lot of land during her life time or as long as she may wish to live there. Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my son James W Green a lot of land - the line starting at Samuel D Green's corner, a Spanish oak, thence straight line to a a dead spanish oak near the Ridge Road, thence a straight line to John C Denny's line, all the land lying west of the line last mentioned I will and bequeath to my son James W Green. Item 4th I give and bequeath to my son Jesse A A Green, one hundred acres of land known as the Yate place, or tract. Item 5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret J Green two hundred dollars to be paid to her by my executor. Item 6th I give and bequeath to my Daughter Abby C Green two hundred dollars to be paid to her by my executor. Item 7th My will and desire is that all my personal property be sold at auction and that after the above named amounts shall be paid off that the residue be divided between my wife and children equally. And Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved sons James & Jesse AA Green my lawful executors to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof - hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills by me heretofore made.
