To wit I give up my immortal never dying soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping he will in mercy receive the same. My body to be committed to the earth in a decent manner there to lie till the glorious morning of the resurrection then to be received by God reunited to my immortal soul. Viz: I lend to my Beloved wife Jane Moreland during her natural life the plantation with all the improvements there on to be in full dower, also one Negro man Jams, one negro woman Sue, one negro girl Hannah, & Ben, giving in her natural life. Item: I give to my son William Moreland, after my wife’s death, my land I now live on in the county of Guilford, one Negro man Peter Amey Ellis –George Ellick & Lucy, to him & his Heirs. Item: I Give to my son Francis Moreland one negro man Joe Phib Tappley Silvey & also three pounds case to be raised out of estate to him & his heirs. Item: I Give to my Daughter Elizabeth Rhodes one Negro girl Patt during her life then to my son William Moreland, she & her increase. Item: I lend to my Daughter Mary Ashley one Negro man Toney Kitt & Beck after her decrease to be equally divided between all her children then living lawfully begotten. After the death of my beloved wife, all lent to her, to the property of my son William Moreland. Item: I Give to Joseph Baugh all the part of my land the South side of the Creek on the East side of the Branch down the said branch as it meanders to the Reaves line. Item: Also I appoint my son William Moreland & Hezekiah Beville my whole & sole Executors to this my last will & executed & every article there in mentioned performed making null or void all former wills— Given under my hand & seal this thirty first day of August 1792.
