William Shaw's will September 1793 probate November 1793 Guilford County, North Carolina In the Name of God Amen I, William Shaw; being weak in body but sound in memory thanks be to God for it & Calling to Mind that its appointed for Man Once to die, And after that the resurrection. I do Make this my Last will and testment, To Viz, First that I allow my body to be buried in a desent manner at the discretion of My Execitors Nothing Doubting but I Shall Receiv the same at the Resurrection at the Last day ---- First I allow all my just & Lawful Debts to be paid. I, the aforesaid William Shaw do leave My two beloved Brothers (that is Joseph Ross & Bengamin) all my clothes to be Equally divided between them, also my Beloved Mother & my two young sisters Jean Ross & Susana they are to be three pounds to be equally divided among them; the rest of My Estate is to be Equally divided Between my two older Sisters (That is Sarah Shaw & Grizzald and Grizzald youngest boy named Thomas Ross those three is to have equal shares --- I always appoint Thomas Wiley and Robert Shaw to Execute this My Last will and testment -- This Ninth Day of September 1793 s/ Wm. Shaw Witness in the presents of: William Matthews; Jurat State of North Carolina} Guilford County --- November Court 1793 William Matthews approved the within will on Motion admitted to record. Hance McKeen} Adam Starr Esqr. returns his list of Taxes for the year 1793 &ll The last will & Testament of William Shaw Des. was proven in open Court and on Motion let it be recorded then came in Thomas Wiley & Robert Shaw, Esqrs. in said will appointed and Qualified as such agreeable to law -- the will was proven by the oath of William Matthews a subscribing witness thereto Guilford County, North Carolina C.046.3001 Court Minutes Vol. III, p. 10 1797 Alexander Gray Esqr. & Sampson Powel are appointed a Committee to Settle the Estate of William Shaw Dec'd. with the Exrs. of the same Estate & make report the next Court ..
