In the name of God, amen- I Patrick Shaw of the County of Guilford & State of North Carolina, being of sound & perfect mind & memory, (?), do this first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred & two, make & publish this my last will & testament in manner following - Item: I resign my soul to God & my body to the grave - Item - I allow all my just debts & funeral expenses first to be paid out of my personal property, which property I allow to be sold. - Item - I give & bequeath to my oldest son, John Shaw, the sum of five shillings - To my second son, William Shaw, the sum of five shillings - Item - I give and bequeath to my son, Hugh Shaw - the sum of five shillings The residue of my estate I wish to be divided into five shares ?:which shares are to be divided in the following manner: I ? give to my beloved wife, Nancy Shaw one share, I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter, Betsy Shaw two shares, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Polly S.lotte/or dotte? one share, I give & bequeath to my daughter Nancy Shaw one share - And hereby make & ordain my dearly beloved wife, Nancy Shaw Executrix & my worthy friend James S.
