HALIFAX COUNTY            
November   Term, 1817

JAMES SMITH

         Vs.

NICHOLAS BRYANT

Original Attachment levied on a tract of land said to contain 174 acres, 
adjoining the lands of ELIJAH POPE and others, and MICAJAH N. DICKSON, 
summoned as Garnishee

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the  defendant, NICHOLAS 
BRYANT, is  not an inhabitant of this State: It is therefore ordered by the 
Court that publication be made for three weeks in the Raleigh Minerva, that 
unless the said defendant, NICHOLAS BRYANT appear at the next  term of  the 
Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions   to be held for the County of Halifax  in 
the Court House at Halifax Town on the second Monday after the third  Monday  
in February next, then and there to  replevy the property so attached and to 
plead to issue, judgment final will be taken against him and execution 
awarded..
