HALIFAX COUNTY, NC REGISTER OF DEEDS DEED BOOK 24, PAGE 571 23 SEP 1818 / NOV CT. 1818 Thomas Curlin to John Taylor Deed This Indenture made the 23 day of September eighteen hundred & eighteen Between Thomas Curlin of Halifax County & State of North Carolina of the one part and John Talyor of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth thaat the said Thomas Curlin for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is thereby acknowledged be the said Thomas Curlin and I the said Thomas Curlin hath bargained sold and sel-over unto John Taylor his heirs and assigns forever a tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less lying & being in the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina. Beginning at a chestnut white oak on Jacket Swamp thence down the drain of said swamp to the mouth of Turkey Branch, thence up the main prong of Turkey Branch to the head of said branch to an old line a water? oak, then N.E. to a corner white oak, then E. along an old surveyed line to an elm on Jacket Swamp, thence down the swamp to the first station. Together with all the houses & privileges thereunto belonging and all his right title & interest thereunto belonging. And the said Thomas Curlin for himself his heirs Exrs. Admrs. & assigns doth coven & promise & agree to & with the said John Taylor his heirs & assigns that the above granted premises are free & clear of charges whatsoever.
