Halifax County, NC - Deed - Curlin, Thomas et al to Thomas Carlisle-1845 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jim Curlin Summary: Conveyance of 31 acres of land from Thomas Curlin, Anna Curlin & William Herbert to Thomas Carlisle for the price of $38.75. The land lies adjacent to the Parsons old road and in Turkey Swamp and adjoins lands owned by William Draper and Hardy Carlisle. This is Thomas, Son of old Thomas & Sophia, along with his wife Anna Herbert Curlin, who he married in 1817. Thomas was guardian of William Herbert and filed an account for him in 1821. CT. 1847 / 5 FEB. 1848 Thomas Curlin, Anna Curlin, William Herbert to Thomas Carlisle Deed This Indenture made this the 27th day of February one thousand Eight hundred forty five between Thomas Curlin Anna Curlin & William Herbert of the one part & Thomas Carlisle of the other part all of the County of Halifax & State of North Carolina Witnesseth that the said Thomas Curlin Anna Curlin & William Herbert for & in consideration of the sum of thirty Eight Dollars & 75/100 to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Carlisle at & before the sealing of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged that the said Thomas Curlin Anna Curlin & William Herbert hath bargained & sold & by this presents doth bargain sell ???? & confirm unto the said Thomas Carlisle his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract of land & premises situate in the County & State aforesaid containing by estimation thirty one acres & bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at a pine on Parsons old road then N5W 116 poles to a large water oat in the meanders of Turkey Branch then down the meanders of said branch 122 poles to a corner hornbeam?? ??
