HALIFAX COUNTY, NC REGISTER OF DEEDS DEED BOOK 24, PG. 131-132 19 MAY 1817 / NOV CT. 1817 Thomas Willie to Thomas Curlin Deed This indenture made this 19 day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventeen between Thomas Willie of Halifax County & State of North Carolina of the one part and Thomas Curlin of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Thomas Willie for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Thomas Willie and I the said Thomas Willie hath bargained sold & sel-over unto Thomas Curlin his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres more or less, lying and being in the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina. Beginning at a chestnut white oak in Jacket Swamp, thence running down the stream of said Swamp to the mouth of Turkey Branch, thence up the main prone/prong? of Turkey Branch to the head of said branch to an old line to a walnut; thence East to a corner white oak, then East along an old survey line to an elm in Jacket Swamp, thence down said Swamp? to the first station. Together with all houses and provide/privite? thereunto belonging an all his rights title interest th? belonging and the said Thomas Willie for himself his? Exrs. Admrs. & assigns doth covenant and promise and agree ? with the said Thomas Curlin his heirs and assigns the above granted premises are free & clear of all charge? ?? soever and the said Thomas Willie himself Exrs. Admrs. & will warrant and forever defend the same to the said Thomas Curlin his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim? ?? demand of any person or persons whatsoever.
