Death Of  John M. Simpson
The Standard of Raleigh, Nov. 19, 1862
   DIED, in Washington County, N. C., on the 19th of September, JOHN M. 
SIMPSON, in the 41st year of his age, from wounds received in the fight at 
that place. He belonged to the 8th Regiment of North Carolina Troops. His 
noble heart once so kind and generous, and so brave, now lies cold and still, 
far from his family and home, but his memory will long be cherished  by his 
friends and his country.
   He leaves a wife and two children.

Additional Comments:
   John M. Simpson served in  Company I, 8th Regiment. He was a farmer from 
Halifax County.
