Miscellaneous Records 1) (top of 1st certificate) The within orders are Continued till the Twentyth of May next when You are to --- with what reserves & deserters you can get to Halifax & deliver them to the Cont. Officers of the N.C. Troops then and there. 29 April 1778 Signed: Gid. LAMB, Col. Mr. Wm. NOBLE (bottom of 1st certificate) This will certify that Mr. William NOBLES appeared at Halifax, agreeable to the above ------ & has leave to return to New River to bring on some deserters to Halifax as soon as possible. Signed: Major ---------- (unable to read) 2) William NOBLE You are to proceed immediately to N.C. to take up all Deserters you can find belonging to the 6th N.C. line & secure them in the Goul or at anywhere you are to attend or Col. LAMB, Col. 3) Camp Kingston, Dec. 26, 1778 Mr. William NOBLE, you'll proceed with Levy WEST, Thomas DUDLEY and Benjamin GERMAN under your Command to Onslow & Carteret Co. when you are to use your utmost power in apprehending the Continental Soldiers who have deserted from their different regiments before their time was expired & confine the s'd. many? --- ----in either the County's or elsewhere, or deliver them to Continental Officers if you should meet with any. There you are to do with out faile & return to Camp at Kingston or any other place that you may hear we have marched, within six? Days from the date hereof with the Soldier and or your command.
