   FROM RALEIGH -- JAMES GRANT, ESQ. of Halifax, has been elected Comptroller 
upon the 12 balloting, having received 106 votes.
   The election of Governor took place yesterday. The candidates are GENERAL 
JAMES IREDELL, RICHARD DOBBS SPAIGHT, ESQ., COL. WILLIAM POLK, and JOHN 
STANLY, ESQ. (of Newbern).
