Halifax County, NC - J.B. Massey Robbed, 1813 North Carolina Raleigh, March 5 ROBBERY On the night of the 19th ult. as J.B. Massey of Halifax was returning from Norfolk where he had been receiving a sum of money, he was attacked near Pierce's Tavern in Northampton by two villains on horseback, one of whom knocked him off his horse. They then stripped off his coat containing his pocket book and money, leving him senseless on the ground. His coat has since been found, but the money is missing. The perpetrators of this horrid crime ought to be hunted and brought to justice; and we trust that all good citizens will lend their assistance in every possible manner to discover the robbers.
