Thurs. Jan. 10, 1861  North Carolina Argus 1861
   HOMICIDE -- MR. SPIER PITMAN killed MR. RIDDICK at Clarksville, Halifax 
County, North Carolina, in a fit of drunken passion. They were the only two 
merchants of the village, and had been most intimate friends up to the moment 
of the homicide. PITMAN is in jailed.
