JONES, MR. HOGG, MR. POLK, MR. HILL, MR. HINTON and MR. HAYWOOD immediately repaired to the seat of the University. They met on the 20th and appointed MR. JONES their chairman, and MR. HAYWOOD consented to act as secretary of the occasion; after having spent some days in deliberating on the measures deemed necessary to be adopted, they returned to their respective homes, having first requested of their chairman, that publication of the issue of the business of this meeting be made in the Raleigh and Halifax Gazettes. In complainance with the request of the Trustees, the public are hereby informed that the anarchy and confustion which lately prevailed among the students at the University have fortunately subsided. The students returned to order, and a decent demeanor, and resumed their several employments on Monday last. We are sorry to add, that the riotous and disorderly behavior of MR. WILLIAM BAKER, MR. SAMUEL McCULLOCH and MR. ROBERT ALSTON had been such as to lay the Trustees under the disagreeable necessity of ordering them to be expelled. The Trustees unanimously approved of the expulsion of MR. WILLIAM MARTIN, which had taken place previous to their arrival, for and on account of his disorderly conduct, and disrespectful and indecent behavior to the faculty. During the above disorder, several of the students possessed their mind entire amidst the tempest and conformed to order; in honour of them and to give satisfaction to their parents and guardians, we do, with pleasure publish their names as follows: JOHN HENDERSON, THOMAS HUNT, WILLIAM CHERRY, GEORGE THORNTON, FRANK DARCY, SOLOMON WILLIAMS, JOSEPH GILLISPIE, GEORGE PHIFER, MOSES LOCKE, JEREMIAH BATTLE, JOHNSTON BLAKELY, JOHN TOOMER, RICHARD CASWELL, ALEXANDER MARTIN, JOHN HUSKE, JAMES HENDERSON, HENRY MARTIN, RICHARD HILL, HENRY HILL, THOMAS NEAVES, JAMES BATTLE, and EDMUND HARVEY. All the other students at the University, at the commencing and during the existence of the disorder which prevailed there, were found to have behaved amiss, and were by the Trustees reprehended, censured or admonished, being first placed in three classes, according to the degree of their several demerits.
