COBB ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. – A funeral service for Sam J. Cobb was conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in First Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. B.C. Harrell and the Rev. Joe Russell. Burial was in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, with Branch Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Stonewall Cooper, A.B. Barrell, Lonnie Ture, Marion Seius, Murphy Waters and Dewey Waters. Cobb, 70, died Sunday night in his home. A native of Southampton County, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Blanche Barham Cobb and a son of Walter Henry and Mrs. Leatha Beale Cobb. He was a retired textile worker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Besides his widow, surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Opal Shell, Mrs. Maxine Waters, and Mrs. Aldine Parks of Roanoke Rapids, and Mrs. Mary Lee of Richmond, Va.; six sons, Howard Cobb, Preston Cobb, and Leland Cobb of Roanoke Rapids, Bill Cobb and Bobby Cobb of New Jersey, and Sam H. Cobb of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Matt Edwards and Mrs. Geneva Joyner; a brother, Tony Cobb all of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
