SUICIDE
-- On Thursday last, MR. STERLING HAIRWELL of Halifax County, put a period to 
his existence, by discharging the  contents of a gun into his head. We are 
informed that for some time previous to his committing this unhappy deed, he 
had been mentally deranged owing to a trifling embarrassment in his pecuniary 
affairs. MR. HAIRWELL was an industrious farmer, and had always borne the 
character of a worthy man. He was for many years a member of our Legislature
