CHARLIE LELAND PERKINS

  PORTSMOUTH – Charlie Leland Perkins Sr., 83, of 401 Florida Ave. died Wednesday 
in a hospital.

  A native of Thelma, N.C., he lived here most of his life.

  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Ethel Gatling Perkins and a son of William 
Leonidas Monroe and Mrs. Martha Mabry Perkins.

  He was a retired air brake inspector of Southern Railway and a member of Broad 
Street Methodist Church.

  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George C. Womble and Mrs. Elizabeth P. 
Garner of Portsmouth; a son, Charlie L. Perkins Jr. of Suffolk; seven 
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial 
Cemetery by the Rev. Percy D. White. Snelling Funeral Home has charge.
