LILLIE RICKS READ

   Mrs. Amasa P. Read, 80, the former Miss Lillie Ricks of the Franklin 
community, died Wednesday morning, April 26, at the home near Littleton, N.C., 
of her daughter, Mrs. R.B. Robinson. She had been confined to her bed for the 
past eight years.

   The deceased was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Collin Ricks, and 
sister of the late Mrs. L.W. Vaughan of Franklin and the late Fitzhugh T. Ricks. 
After her marriage to Mr. Read she resided at Palmer Springs in Mecklenburg 
County. For the past 16 years she had been making her home with her daughter 
near Littleton.

   Besides Mrs. Robinson she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Arrington 
Davis of Henderson, N.C.; three sons, Fitzhugh Read of Warrenton, N.C., Frank 
Read of Wood, N.C. and  Read of Palmer Springs; and several grandchildren.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Read were held at 3:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon 
at Mt. Auburn Christian Church, Mecklenburg County, with burial in the church 
cemetery.
