Halifax County, NC - Will - Cooper, John-1794 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jim Curlin Summary: John Cooper's will was written 4 October 1794 and proved in November Court 1794 in Halifax County, North Carolina. It is assumed that his death date is between 4 October and November 1794, most likely soon after it was written. He leaves personal and land property to his wife [unnamed], sons John, James Samuel, Thomas, Isles and daughters Mary Cooper Ward, Sarah Cooper Glasgow, Elizabeth Cooper Heath, Dolly Cooper Gray, Sophia Cooper [Curlin??], Frankey Cooper and a grandson, Zachus Cooper. It is believed that the daughter Sophia is the wife of Thomas Curlin, though she should have been married at least by 1785 [due to birth date of son John Curlin] and it is noted that she does not have a married name here (as do some of her other sisters). Is this the right Sophia??
