HALIFAX COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Rosanna Conner Faulcon, 3 Sep 1844 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- The date of probate was not on the typewritten file. Will of Rosanna Conner Faulcon as typewritten in the files of Margaret Durfey, who wrote 'my father's aunt' on the will. In the name of God, Amen, I, Rosanna Conner Faulcon, of the County of Halifax, and state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament, revoking all others. Item 1st. I leave to my beloved Granddaughter Ann Rosanna Allen during her life (in case she should die leaving no child or children) the tract of land whereon her mother lived, known as the Saunder's Tract, together with all other lands that I own adjoining. Also the following negroes viz: Francis, Emily, Isaac, Henry Haywood, Ransom, Eliza and old Channy, two beds and furniture and one bureau-- At her death, leaving no child or children, then I give all of said property to be equally divided between the children of her brother Christopher B. Allen and her sister Martha E. Alston that they now have or may hereafter have share and share alike. But in case my siad granddaughter should die leaving a child or children then in that case I give the whole of said land, negroes, etc. to the child or children of said granddaughter, Ann B. Allen, share and share alike to them and their heirs forever. Item 2nd. I will and bequeath to my Great Grand children of my Grandson Christopher B. Allen, the Tract of land where on he now lives knowns as the Winters tract also that part of the Wilkins tract lyling west of the Horib Meeting House Spring branch to the children of the said Christopher B. Allen that he now has or may hereafter have share and share alike to them and their heirs forever. It is further my will that my said grandson Christopher B. Allen may have the use of said land as a home as long as he lives should he wish it. Item 3rd. I will and bequeath to my great Grand children of my grand daugher Martha E. Alston that part of the Corrall tract of land whereon she formerly lived and bounded as follows North by Benjamin Edward's, East by William Clark, South by Jas. L. Reid and West by the old mill path, to the children of the said Martha E. Alston that she now has or may hereafter have, share and share alike to them and their heirs forever. It is further my will that my said Grand daughter, Martha E. Alston, may have the use of said land as a home as long as she lives should she wish it. Item 4th. I will and bequeath to my beloved son John Faulcon all my land lying west and north of Smileys house, except the Winters tract and that part of the Wilkins tract given to the children of Christopher B. Allen. Also one half of all my negro slaves that I may die ... possessed of, together with those now in his possession, (except those loaned to my grand daughter, Ann R. Allen) in this will to him and his heirs forever. But should my son John Faulcon die without lawful issue then and in that case it is my request (inasmuch as it was his father's wish) that the above given legacy be by him conveyed by will in wirting to his brother Isaac N. Faulcon or to any one of more of my Grand children. Item 5th. I will and bequeath to my beloved son Isaac N. Faulcon all of my land lying south and East of Smileys branch with the exception of that part of the Corrall tract given to the children of my Grand daughter Martha E. Alston. Also the other one-half of all my negro slaves that I may die possessed of, together with those that he now has in possession or that I may hereafter put in his possession to him and his heirs forever. Item 6th. It is my will and desire that all of the balance of my estate not herein given away be equally divided between my two sons Isaac N. Faulcon and my Grand daughter Ann B. Allen (handwritten in pencil: Married Silas Le May, died 2nd Louis B. Goodloe) share and share alike to them and their heirs forever. Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my two sons Isaac N. Faulcon and John Faulcon Executors to this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this the third day of September A.D. 1844.
