Halifax County, NC - Will of William Fluellen, 1784 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NORTH CAROLINA HALIFAX COUNTY In the name of God Amen the 26th day of December in the year of Our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred eighty four, I William Fluellen of the county of Halifax and State of North Carolina being sick and weak in body but of perfect sense and disposing memory thanks be to God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Item I give and devise to my son Alexander Fluellen one negroe boy named Scott & one negroe girl named Silvia likewise one bay horse called Mountain, one feather bed and furniture, one chest, two cows and calves and one sow and pigs. Item I give and devise to my son Abner Fluellen the Plantation whereon he now lives, with all the lands adjoining on both sides of the Cherry branch likewise one negroe boy named Tiney. Item I give and devise to my daughters Nancy Fluellen one negroe woman named Lucy and negroe boy named Bromfield, one negroe girl named Sarah, one bed and furniture, one chest, one brick table, one trunk, one looking glass, and six chairs and two cows and calves. Item I give and devise to my son Shadrack Fluellen the land and plantation whereon I now live. I likewise give to my son Shadrick Fluellen one negroe man named Richmond after the death of my beloved wife I give to my son Shadrick one negroe girl named Beck. One horse bridle and saddle, One feather bed and furniture, One chest and one desk, two cows and calves & two sows and pigs. Item I give to my son James Fluellen one large bible. Item I give and devise to my beloved wife Betty Fluellen the use of three negroes during her natural life Cato, Winnie and Richmond with all other moveables that I now possess that have not been given away and after the death of my beloved wife Betty Fluellen my desire is that my two negroes Cato and Ulman with all the other moveables that I have given her may be divided between my six sons namely Howell Fluellen, James Fluellen, William Fluellen, Taylor Fluellen, Alexander Fluellen and Abner Fluellen. Lastly I appoint my two sons James Fluellen and William Fluellen Executors of this my last will and testament whereof I have here disannulling all formerly before by me made.
