I give to my Grand Daughter MARY McCULLOCH these slaves, Mary & her children Henry & James, & Robin & Patty, & their future increase; to her, her Heirs & assigns. I give to my Grand Daughter ELIZABETH McCULLOCH these slaves; Willis and Doll & Hasty's children, Phil & Sap?, Dolls children, Maria & Dinah's child and Cielia? and their future Increase; to her Heirs & assigns. I give to my Grand Son SAMUEL McCULLOCH these slaves, Flora & Sam, children of Amarillis, Virgil Son of Dinah, Jupiter, Grace & David the Waggoner, & their future Increase; to him his Heirs & assigns. I give to my Grand Son BENJAMIN McCULLOCH these slaves, Lucy & Hasty's Daughters Daphne & Lucy & David & Will, sons of Amarillis & Mark, and their future Increase, to him his Heirs & assigns. I give to my Grand Son ALEXANDER McCULLOCH, these Slaves, Roger & Clary, Dick, Jack, Will, Amarillis, _____? _____? _____? _____? _____? William Son of Lucy, Antrim & Jeffery and their future Increase, to him, his Heirs & assigns. I also give to the said ALEXANDER McCULLOCH my Land & plantation & Mill in Warren County; to him, his Heirs & assigns forever. -- He is like wise to have Dick the Miller & his wife Seilla, & the crop & stock of Horses, Cattle &etc, and tools, that may be on the said plantation when I die. I give to my Grandson ALEXANDER FROHOCK a Wench named Grace, her children, which are in his possession; to his Heirs & assigns. I give my man Philip to Willie Jones & his assigns. I hereby direct my Executors herein after named, or either of them, to sell my Household & Kitchen Furniture, the crops, my Stock of Cattle, Horses, & etc, Tools, Implements of Husbandry that may be on my plantations in Halifax County, to raise money for the payment of my Debts. I also direct authorize & empower my said Ex.r. or either of them, to sell & convey such part or parts of my Lands in Halifax County, as they or either of them may think proper, if it should appear to be necessary to raise a further Sum for the payment of my Debts; -- or if it should be found expedient so to do, for the more easy Division of my Estate; because [page 2] because I choose that Land, should be sold rather than Negroes. I give the remainder of my Estate, of every kind, real & personal, including the following Negroes, to wit, Allen, Little Dick, Gabriel, Elijah, Mulattoe Betty, her Son Dick, Daniel, Francis, Phil, Mary, Sabina, Mahala, Josiah, King, Hsty, Penny, Isaac, Arthur, Nancy, Pompey, Bob, Jacob, Brumfield, Sattin, Gus, David, Nancy and Edenton, and their future Increase, after payment of my Debts, to my Grand Children, Alexander, Samuel, Benjamin, Sarah, Mary & Elizabeth McCulloch, to be divided equally among them, share and share alike; to them, their Heirs & assigns. If any or either of my Grand Children mentioned in the preceding clause should die before they arrive at the age of twenty one or marry, I will that the Legacies herein given to him her or them, shall be equally divided among the Survivors; to them their Heirs & assigns. I give & bequeath my Lands included within the following Limits, to my Grandsons Samuel & Benjamin McCulloch. viz: -- beginning in my Line in the Marsh Swamp, near the Bridges, thence along the Road, leading to Halifax Town, to the Run of Little swamp, then the meanders of the Run up to the head of said Swamp, then North to my Head Line, then along my Lines & John Purnals to the Run of the Marsh swamp, then the meanders of this Run to the beginning: And the said Lands are to be divided between the said Samuel and benjamin thus -- place the compass in the middle of the Lake which divides [page 3] divides the plantation, called the Old Place, from the plantation whereon I live, run westwardly the course of the Lane, to the Run of the Swamp, then revese the course, & Run Eastwardly to Little Swamp, & this shall be the line of division: And I give the upper part, being the Land & plantation whereon I live, lying to the North of the dividing Line, to my Grand Son Samuel McCulloch, his Heirs & assigns; and I give the lower part lying to the South of the dividing Line, to my Grandson Benjamin McCulloch, his Heirs & assigns forever. I autheriss? my Executors, or either of them, to sell & convey my Land within the following Bounds to raise money to pay my debts; beginning at the run of the Little swamp in the Halifax Road, then along the Road, eastwardly to Lunsford Longs Line, then North, his line, to Willie Jones Line, then nearly the same course along Jones line to the Road which leads from Halifax Town to my House, then along the road to Samuel McCullochs east Line, then South or southwardly, along his Line & Benjamin McCulloch's Line, tot he Beginning. I have annexed this Codicil to my Will, and it is to be considered as a part of it to all Intents & Purposes. In witness whereof I have hereto set my Hand & Seal the day & year above written. Alex S.
