At 10 o'clock the militia company of the district together with the citizens were led and exercised by A. D. McLEAN, Marshal of the Day. At 11 o'clock, all were pleasantly seated in a grove adjacent to the school house, near which had been erected a stand for the Orators and Readers. The Mecklenburg Declaration was first read by JOHN W. PIPKIN, ESQ., who prefaced the reading with some clear and eloquent remarks, showing that the claim of the Old North State to the honor or having first broken asunder and thrown off the ties of the British domination was clear and indisputable. The American Declaration was then read by EDWARD S. PARKER, ESQ., in a clear and forcible manner. The audience was pleasantly entertained by music suited to the occasion. The oration was delivered by ALLEN B. PARKER ESQ. The speaker enchained his audience for about an hour ... [followed] by a sumptious dinner spread out in the grove, of which each and all partook to their heart's content.
