A Murder at Dunn
(Correspondence of The Messenger)
Dunn, NC, December 25
A man was murdered here last night. John Campbell, colored, an employee of Mr
King's factory here was found dead this morning from a cut in the back. Tom
Adkins, colored, was arrested for the crime, with strong evidence of foul play.
The murdered man was well thought of by all classes while the accused does not
bear a good character. It is supposed jealousy of a woman and whiskey was the
cause.
