He was born in Mamers, N.C. and raised in Sanford, N.C. He was the son of Maude Brown and James Monroe Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Westmoreland Williams; daughters, Patricia Anne Williams, Sandra Williams-Cleary and husband, J. Brendan Cleary, Rebecca Williams-Hannah and husband, Robert V. Hannah III; two wonderful grandsons, Brendan Hunter and Chase Williams Cleary; sister, Thelma Womack; and a cousin, Herb Brown, both of North Carolina. He will be sorely missed by all, especially his loving cat, Butternut. Mr. Williams will be especially remembered by his grandsons as a patient and kind man with a positive attitude. He was deeply devoted to them and enjoyed all of their activities, particularly golf and baseball games. Mr. Williams graduated from high school in Sanford, N.C. and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was called into the Air Force and was glad to serve his country. After four years in the service, he was employed with Chance Vought in Dallas, Texas. He retired from H. Lockheed Martin, where he was an aeronautical engineer for 51 years. A life celebration service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, in Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Savinsky officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private burial in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, Suffolk, on Friday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Isle of Wight Chapter, 4217 Park Place, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue, P.O.
