Haywood County, NC - Thomas Brown - Act to Erect Gates, 1827 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act authorising Thomas Brown, of the county of Haywood, to erect two gates, for one year, on the public road leading from Franklin down the Tennessee river Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the passing of this act, it shall and may be lawful for Thomas Brown, of the county of Haywood, to erect and keep up two gates on his own land, on the public road leading from Franklin down the Tennessee river, under the same rules, regulations and restrictions as have been or may hereafter be established, for erecting and keeping up any gate or gates across any of the public highways of this State: Provided the gates hereby authorised be erected within six months from the passing of this act, and that he continue them, or either of them, one year only from the erection.
