All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm John Moody deed to Joshua Allison This indenture made this twenty fourth day of Sept. in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven between John Moody, of the County of Haywood and the State of North Carolina, of the one part and Joshua Allison, of the same County and State aforesaid, of the other part. Witnesseth that for, and in consideration of, the sum of seven hundred dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt wherein here is hereby acknowledged by the said John Moody, hath bargained, achieved, and conveyed, and by the presents doth bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Joshua Allison, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land situated, and being in, the aforesaid County and State on the West side of Jonathan Creek. Beginning at a Sycamore tree on the West side of a little creek called Hemphill Creek a small distance below Howell's Mill, running thence down the winding of Jonathan Creek with one hundred and forty five poles to Beech on the West side of said creek, thence West forty two poles to a White Oak, thence North forty eight poles to a Hickory on the side of a ridge, thence West one hundred and seven poles to a White Oak on a small drain, thence due South two hundred and twenty poles to a stake, thence East with the original line of the tract of land conveyed by Hugh Dandrou to John Moody, thence in a South Easterly direction to a stump commonly called the Shingle Stump, thence in the same direction to a Sarvice, this being a conditional line made between John Moody and Joshua Allison, thence down Hemphill Creek to Mill race, thence down said race seventy poles to a Maple, thence running down said creek North sixty eight degrees, East thirty eight poles to Sycamore on bank of said race, thence running North eighteen poles to the beginning, containing one hundred and ninety acres, more or less, the same to have and to hold unto Joshua Allison, his heirs and assigns, with all the woods, waters, ways, mines, minerals, and appurtanences thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and I, the said John Moody, do covenant and agree with the said Joshua Allison to warrant and forever defend the above bargained tract of land free and clear from the claims of myself, my heirs or assigns, and from the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Joshua Allison, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns in fee simple forever.
